The Story of Goldilocks and the Three Chaise Lounges

Once upon a time, there was a young woman named Goldilocks. She was in the market for a new chaise lounge for her patio, and wanted to find a piece that was the perfect combination of luxury and style.

She wandered into an outdoor furniture retailer, and headed for the lounge chair section. Goldilocks was first drawn to a beautiful woven chair. It looked as if it belonged poolside at an upscale resort, with its natural, woven frame and light, plush cushion. It was the Kingsley-Bate St. Bart’s Woven Chaise Lounge.

Goldilocks sat down on the chair and stretched out her legs, leaning back against the canvas cushion. “This chair is so relaxing!” she thought, settling into the chair’s soft depths. With “St. Bart’s” in the name, she realized she was right to picture this chair in a resort. The weatherproof natural rope in the wicker combined with the teak feet gave it such a carefree, liveable style, yet still with the appearance of luxury.

She tugged on a blond curl absentmindedly as she imagined this chaise on her patio. “I’m pretty sure I’m not supposed to fall in love with the first chair I see,” she thought to herself. “That’s not how this works.” So while she couldn’t find fault with the chair, Goldilocks decided to move on to check out her other options.

Next, Goldilocks approached a sleek chaise that appeared to be part of a set. This chaise was crafted from a combination of stainless steel and beautiful teak, with a cream-colored sling fabric as the lying surface. The chaise was part of the Kingsley-Bate Tivoli 3-Piece Stainless Steel and Teak Chaise Lounge Ensemble.

While this chaise lacked the plush cushion of the first chair, Goldilocks found she loved the contemporary, minimalist look of the ensemble. The clean lines and pairing of wood and steel were attractive, and she could immediately picture them transforming her patio into a modern paradise.

“I suppose I should at least sit in the chair and try it out,” she thought. Expecting the chaise to be less comfortable than the first with the absence of a cushion, Goldilocks was surprised at how relaxed she immediately felt in the Tivoli chaise. The sling fabric gently stretched and she felt as if she was as light as air. She adjusted the back and was pleased to find it moved to five different positions for maximum comfort.

“This is getting ridiculous,” she muttered to herself, never imagining she would be happy with each chair she tried. She glanced at the chair’s tag and learned the collection also offered dining furniture and a club chair–bonus details should she decide to design her entire patio around this look. The chaise also featured wheels for easy mobility and was easy to stack for storage, details she was sure to note for her deliberations later.

Goldilocks got up from the chaise and decided to try out one final chair, hoping to find a tie-breaker. She moved toward a chaise that seemed to combine aspects from both of the chairs she had already sampled. The Kingsley-Bate Venice Teak Chaise Lounge featured clean, teak lines, wheels for easy maneuverability, an optional canvas cushion, and a wicker seat base.

“This has to be the one,” she thought as she moved to sit in the Venice chaise. While she loved the contemporary, uncomplicated styling of the Tivoli, she also liked the idea of adding texture to her patio with the wicker. The optional cushion was a nice touch as well, because she could use it when she wanted, or enjoy the sleek look of just the teak and wicker without sacrificing comfort.

As she leaned back in the Venice chaise, she thought “this chair is just right.” She closed her eyes and smiled, imagining her new stylish patio. When she opened her eyes, Goldilocks spotted the first two chairs she tried in the showroom. Her heart sank a little as she imagined leaving them behind.

Gnawing on her lip with concern, she mused, “what if I got all three?” She loved each chaise in a different way and, besides, more chairs meant she could host more social gatherings, right?

Goldilocks skipped up to the counter and announced to the salesperson her intent to purchase all three chaise lounges. The associate looked at her with surprise, but Goldilocks had made up her mind. She went home that day with the St. Bart’s Woven Chaise, the Tivoli Stainless Steel and Teak Ensemble, and the Venice Teak Chaise Lounge, and she lived in luxury and complete relaxation for the rest of her days.
