Salem Square
The Fine Art of Furniture
The 18th century saw a multitude of historic events, most notably the American
Revolution. Also making history at that time, however, was an inspired push in furniture
design, both in England and in the American colonies. This highly creative and prolific
period ushered in the beginning of such timeless, celebrated styles as Queen Anne,
Hepplewhite, Chippendale and Colonial America. It is on this grand era of furniture design
that Salem Square has based its own work, creating some of the most authentic and magnificent
reproductions available today.
Combining18th-century design with 20th-century craftsmanship, Salem Square has developed
a lovely collection of fine-quality furniture, including everything from writing desks and
coffee tables to dining room pieces, drop-leaf side tables, consoles and wall accessories.
In addition, there is an outstanding selection of pieces that have been artfully adapted to
complement contemporary interiors.
Each piece is made of solid Honduran mahogany and available in 12 different finishes. The
complex finishing process involves staining, sealing, glazing and hand-rubbing each individual
item. Indeed, it is this very process that eventually brings out the natural luster of the
wood grain. The craftsmanship displayed in this furniture is equally impressive. Historically
faithful to the original designs, these pieces feature any number of details, including dovetail
drawers, solid brass hardware and delicate wood carvings.
