This classic chair is made of ultra-high quality Brazilian Cherry. This wood, which rates at more than twice the hardness of teak, has been used in decking, playground equipment, railroad crossties, marine and other outdoor applications for many years due to its density and superior weather resistant qualities. This wood is rare in furniture because its hardness makes it difficult to machine without the sophisticated equipment and advanced manufacturing techniques employed in the making of this chair.

This chair has been engineered for outdoor use at every step: the wood has been 100% kiln-dried, all hardware is exterior grade, glue is non-water soluble, slats are cut to shape; not bent, and all construction is mortise and tenon.

The natural oil stained chair can be expected to weather to a reddish dark grey over time. If the grey tone is preferred, no maintenance is necessary. If the red color is preferred, it can be restored by treatment with our Teak Cleaner followed by Teak Protector.

Painted finishes are very high quality and outperform almost all other premium outdoor furniture: most painted outdoor furniture is not made of weatherproof wood (downgrading wood quality on painted items is common in the furniture industry), and if that is done, the underlying furniture will begin to rot as soon as the paint wears down. But our painted rockers are made of Brazilian Cherry, so they are truly weatherproof, even as the paint ages in the sun. Truly weatherproof painted furniture is extremely rare - teak, for example, cannot be painted - so these chairs are the highest quality painted outdoor furniture on the market today.
